Service Schools: Mike enlisted into Company D, 180th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division of the Oklahoma National Guard on March 14, 1938. On August 31, 1940, he reported to Fort Sill, OK where the division was an instrumental part in establishing the facilities. On December 11, 1941 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp and received courses in physics, mathematics, geography, history first aid and 10 hours flight instruction with Aeronca aircraft. He also qualified as marksman in carbine. He trained at Chanute Field, IL., for mechanic and repaired B-17's going to England.
