Thoughts About the 58th: Departed on Feb. 11, 1944 for India, arrived on May 2, 1944. Served as bombsight mechanic. Performed duties overseas in India and Tinian. Inspected, cleaned, tested, lubricated, calibrated and made minor parts replacement to bombsights and auto flight control equipment. Removed bombsights from airplanes and mounted on test stands. Checked accuracy of computing mechanism and replaced bearings and other moving parts.
Comments: Mr. Hermsen passed away March 5, 2012. He is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
