Post WWII Service:
Post WWII Civilian Occupation(s): Jack was employed by United Airlines for 23 years. He was a reserve in the San Bruno, CA Police Dept. for 5 years, rising to the rank of Captain. He was a member of the San Mateo County (CA) Sheriff's Dept. Reserves for 28 years rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was also involved in search and rescue off the coast of San Mateo County (CA)
Thoughts About the 58th: Jack is no longer here to express his thoughts. He passed away in June, 2002. We, as his family, are very proud of the service he gave to his country. He worked for Northrop Aircraft Corp. and that job gave him a deferment from military service. He believed in fighting for “mom and apple pie” so strongly that he gave up his deferment and enlisted.
Comments: Mr. Gerritsen passed away June 28, 2002 and is buried at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo, CA.
