Post WWII Service: Inactive reserves until March 6, 1953
Post WWII Civilian Occupation(s): With Republic Aviation as Stress Analyst after the war. Rose to Principal Structural Analyst in R&D and acted as Structural Mechanics Manager. Participated in this capacity on the US/FRG V/STOL progress in Munich, Germany. Was Survivability/Vulnerability Manager on the A-10 close air support aircraft, and was later instrumental in computerizing all of Engineering. Became Director of Technical Engineering and retired as Director of Automated Engineering.
Thoughts About the 58th: It was the most dramatic, traumatic and exciting time of my young life. Although I was separated for too long from my new, young bride, I was proud to have served with the Army Air Forces in a capacity for which I had much training. Especially was I proud to have served in my outfit. Al told, it was a memorable and rewarding service.
Comments: It's great to have a wing of the NEAM dedicated to our wartime outfit.
Mr. Arrighi passed away August 6, 2005 and is buried at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmindgale, NY.
