School Vacation Week Activities

December 26-31, 2017

Kids are out of school? Don’t panic...plan a visit to the New England Air Museum! You can explore three exhibit hangars filled with over sixty historic aircraft and experience the wonders of flight with daily activities including:

  • Hands-on Build & Fly Challenges
  • Interactive Flight Science Demonstrations
  • Open Cockpit Experiences in historic aircraft
  • Computerized Flight Simulators
  • Aircraft Quest Scavenger Hunts

In addition to these daily activities, the following special events are scheduled:

  • Tuesday December 26, 2017: Aviation Art Station
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Using an array of art making materials, visitors will create imaginative works of aviation art to take home.
  • Wednesday, December 27: Balsa Wood Airplane Workshop
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Build and test fly your own balsa airplane model with our expert aeromodelers! This workshop is designed for children ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and there is a $5.00 cost per model kit.
  • Thursday, December 28: LEGO Flying Machine Contest
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Back by popular demand! Children ages 3-13 are invited to construct a flying machine using the New England Air Museum’s collection of LEGOs to enter into the contest. Winners will be awarded prizes in three age categories, and participants need not be present to win.
  • Friday, December 29: Nose Art Design Workshop
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Learn about the unique history of airplane nose art and create a custom nose art design to take home.

All events and activities are included with general admission unless otherwise noted. Events and activities are subject to change.

Please note the museum will close at 3:00pm on Sunday December 31st for the New Years Eve holiday.
