Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing:
I was proud to be a part of the 58th Bomb Wing and proud to be the base (Kharagpur) Fire Chief in late 1945 and 1946. I did my part to shut down Kharagpur and moved to Bengal Air Depot where I was assigned to Base Fire Chief and Base Taxi Service till Bengal Air Depot was shut down and we moved to Calcutta Port of Embarkation to prepare to return to New York, USA.

Comments:
I have a large photograph of the Wm. Mitchell AP-114 that we went to Bombay, India, with approximately 6,000 troops aboard in 1944, and a large photo of the Kaiser Liberty Ship U.S.S. General Mark L. Hershey AP-148 that brought my outfit (599 Air Engineering Squadron, 383rd Air Service Group) to New York, USA in 1946.
