Typically innovative and forward-looking, Burt Rutan, Tom Jewett and Gene Sheehan's Quickie combines many unusual design features with efficient use of modern, lightweight materials. The tail-first "canard" configuration makes the airplane virtually stall-proof. It has a range of 600 miles and is a remarkably safe and economical home-built aircraft. This example required approximately 1,000 man-hours in construction and logged 230 flight hours.
