February School Vacation Week Activities

Monday, February 20 - Friday, February 24.

Explore three giant exhibit hangars filled with over sixty historic aircraft and experience the wonders of flight through daily hands-on activities including:

  • Build & Fly Challenges
  • Interactive Flight Science Demonstrations
  • Computerized Flight Simulators
  • Open Cockpit Experiences in historic aircraft

In addition to these daily activities, the following special events are scheduled:

  • Monday, February 20: Delta Dart Model Workshop
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Build a balsa Delta Dart airplane model with help from our team of experts! Ages 8 and older, all children must be accompanied by an adult, and there is a $5.00 cost per model kit.
  • Tuesday, February 21: LEGO Flying Machine Contest
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Children ages 3-12 will construct a futuristic flying machine using the New England Air Museum’s collection of LEGOs. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories, and winners need not be present to win.
  • Wednesday, February 22: Airplane Nose Art
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Learn the fascinating history of airplane nose art and create your own nose art design to take home.
  • Thursday, February 23: The Great Paper Airplane Challenge
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Use your imagination to construct a far flying paper plane from a variety of materials. Will your creation go the distance?
  • Friday, February 24: Straw Rocket Launch
    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    Are you a rocket scientist? Find out by building and launching a straw rocket using our specialized NEAM rocket launchers.

NEAM’s Virtual Flight Center will also be open during February school vacation week. Using advanced, three screen yoke and pedal flight simulators, visitors take to the imaginary skies with help from our NEAM Flight Team. The Virtual Flight Center is open to visitors ages 10 and older and a $5.00 fee person fee applies for a 30 minute flight. NEAM Members fly free!
