I returned to USA on Sunset Project flying Shag'n Home back. The 40th was stationed at March Field, Riverside, CA from November 1945, until May 5, 1946, when we transferred to Davis-Monthan AB at Tucson, AZ until deactivated in October 1946. I then became a civilian again and moved to Idaho. I stayed in the Air Force Reserve until Sept. 28, 1957. |

My wife, Jane, and I operated Changnon's Lodge in Swan Valley, Idaho (near Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole) from 1947 until 1962. I worked as an engineer building missile sites around Tucson, AZ and had a small building construction company in Idaho and Wyoming. We sold our resort/tourist business in 1963 and moved to Cupertino, CA so that I could commute to Stanford University from 1963 until I retired in 1985. I have been the Historian for the 40th Bomb Group for over 20 years and on 20th AF Assn. Board of Directors since 1988. I was Construction Contract Administrator for Stanford for 25 years. |

I think it was wonderful and I have written six (6) unpublished books about the B-29s and our combat flying in WWII. I have also written, furnished pictures and memorabilia for several videos on the B-29s, including half a dozen still being shown on TV. |
