Stearman  PT-17

Built primarily by Boeing, the Stearman PT-17 was used by the Army Air Force as a primary trainer, by the Navy as a basic trainer, and by the RCAF as the Kaydet, throughout WW-II. As a trainer it gave many pilots their first experience flying a plane. Our museum airplane has the same color scheme and markings as it appeared during the service from 1943-45 at Tuskegee Army Airfield, Alabama, the principal training facility for Black airmen during World War II. It was built in 1941. It has a Continental 670 engine producing 220 hp.
