After the war, he earned his BA at the University of Montana and began a 40-year career in the heavy construction business. With stops in Seattle, Delaware, the Tri-Cities, and the North Slope, he retired in 1989 from the Howard S. Wright Co. as cost supervisor on the Georgia Pacific job in Bellingham.
