He was manager of Sancken's Albany Dairy Plant and president of Sancken and Associates. He attended Iowa State College, where he majored in dairy engineering, and later transferred to the University of Georgia, where he graduated with a degree in business administration. He was president of Dougherty County Cancer Society, Radium Springs Country Club and Albany Board of Realtors. He also coached little league baseball for many years.
