| Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing: |
|
Mr. Shott was the Flight Engineer on 42-6368, Calamity Sue. On August 20th 1944, during the raid on Yawata, Calamity Sue was in the slot position behind Col. Clinkscales in 42-6334, who was leading the formation. When Col. Clinkscales' plane was rammed, the Jap fighter, with its right wing torn loose, cartwheeled into Calamity Sue. The only survivors were NEWMAN, SHOTT AND DANSBY. They were captured and became POWs.
