The eighth annual Women Take Flight event will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2012.
Sponsored by the Petit Family Foundation

Meet extraordinary women who have pioneered new careers for women in aviation and aerospace engineering!  Discover the opportunities women now have working in the aviation and aerospace industries while seeing examples of their work in the Museum’s collection.  Re-enactors will portray famous women aviators from bygone eras.  This exciting, educational and inspirational program is sponsored by the Petit Family Foundation and presented in cooperation with the New England Chapter of the Ninety-Nines (International Organization of Women Pilots).  More than 20 guests are expected, including:

  • Bee Haydu, Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) from WWII awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor
  • Linda Myer, historical interpreter portraying Amelia Earhart
  • Captain Elisa Raney, Navy Helicopter Pilot
  • Veronica Bradley, one of the first women accepted into the U.S. Marine Corps
  • Mary Feik, WWII mechanic and test pilot
  • Nina Anderson, Corporate Pilot and Author
  • Patricia Lohan Margarido, Chief Flight Respiratory Therapist and Paramedic with LifeStar
  • Linda Maloney, Naval Aviator (ret) and author of 'Military Fly Moms'
  • Patricia Beckman, Commander U.S. Navy (ret) and flight test navigator for Boeing
  • Lucy Young, Commercial and Navy Pilot (ret)
  • Tammy Denease, historical interpreter portraying Bessie Coleman
  • Terry vandenDolder, U.S. Air Force pilot (ret) and American Airlines Pilot
  • Marilyn Pearson, aerobatic pilot and FAA Operations Inspector
  • Connie Tobias, commercial and test pilot and historical interpreter portraying Harriet Quimby
  • Catherine Carabine, U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter Pilot
  • Katherine Knapp Carney, engineer on Pratt & Whitney’s new Pure Power Engine 1000G
  • Susan McSpadden, C5 Cargo Pilot at Westover Air Base
