Gift of Cy and Mary Mehling
The "VariEze" was introduced in July, 1976 by Burt Rutan and was a tremendous contribution to the development of composite aircraft and the popularization of modern canard design. Rutan reinforced these concepts through step-by-step plans, lectures and seminars. It was designed to be an easy to build airplane with fairly high performance and relatively low cost.
This plane, built by Cy and Mary Hehling of Doylestown. PA, first flew on July 12, 1977 and was the third VariEze.
