| Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing: |
|
I was selected to be one of the first B-29 pilots and joined the 444th BG at Great Bend, KS in 1943. This group was privileged to have Col. Alva Harvey as Commander.
I was assigned to the 678th Sqd. By Commander Lt. Col. Winton Close. I served as Airplane Commander, Sqn. Operations Officer, Asst. Group Operations Officer.
The 58th pioneered the B-29. |
