Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing:

I'm happy that I was able to be an airplane commander of a B-29 crew at age 22. I had a good crew.   I had the experience of landing a B-29 (Cajun Queen) at Atsugi, Japan, on 8/30/45. Saw the fly-over of B-29s on V-J Day. The reason for landing, was shortage of fuel due to extensive mission with POW supplies and strong return head winds plus likelihood of a ditching in Pacific Ocean at night. Had to wait 5 days at Atsugi for necessary fuel.

Congratulations on the restored "Jack's Hack." Surely the proud effort of many. Living in Florida and now in my "eighties,", it's not likely that I'll get up to see it soon, if at all. But good luck, others who see it will be proud.

Comments:
I enjoyed attending a reunion of the "Deacon's Disciples" crew in 1993 along with J.D. McCall, Group Operations Officer and Warren Connell, Radio Operator. I still hear from them occasionally.I am enclosing a picture of my flight crew. I have no idea who is living or dead. We all survived combat without injury.
