Comments:
We had basic training at Miami Beach, Florida during the summer of 1943. November 11, 1943, approximately 400 of us arrived at Camp Barkeley, Texas. There we were split into four MP companies. I was in the 1280th MP Company, Aviation. (Don't remember the other numbers.) On January 23, 1944, left Newport News, Virginia for India. Arrived at Kharagpur, India on March 25, 1944. Was there doing various security details at the base. On February 25, 1945 left Piardoba for the Island of Tinian. Arrived there April 4, 1945. All of the MP companies from India were merged upon arrival at Tinian. Then we became part of the 86th Headquarters & Base Services Squadron, 486th Bomb Group. We did security, read, and did guard duty. Left Tinian for the U.S. on November 5, 1945.
