| Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing: |
| My service in the Army Air Corps and the 58th Bomb Wing was truly a growing up experience for an 18-21 year old. Along with hundreds of other young men, we coaxed the B-29 into combat readiness in the CBI and later in the Marians Islands. This required patience and daring. I will always be proud of my part in the history make by the B-29 in bringing the war with Japan to an end. |

|
I remained active in the China/Burma/India Veterans Organization from almost from its inception to the concluding National Meeting in Washington, DC, September 2005. I still remain in contact with a remnant of the Queen City Basha, Cincinnati Ohio to this date.
Note: My dad served in the Navy in as a M/M on flying status;
My great grandfather, Robert West, served in the Civil War, 100th Indiana Infantry. |
