Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing:
When Daddy gave me a copy of the "The Pictorial History of the 444th Bombardment Group", he wrote on the flyleaf that: "This was the first time a B-29 was service tested in combat under the most trying flying conditions in the world (the Hump) had never been done before or since". Dad was quite proud of his service and felt the men he flew with were the brothers he'd never had. His photograph can be found in the aforementioned book. He is kneeling in the far left front row in front of "Duke".

Comments:
Daddy was a Flight Engineer mostly on F. Cable "Duke" Steinemann's crew, but also flew Engineer many times with Col. Alva Harvey in B-26, B-17 and B-29s.
