| Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing: |
| My tour of duty in the 58th Bomb Wing was a rewarding experience. I was able to visit places and see things that otherwise would not have been possible. The most memorable events were seeing Mount Everest in the Himalayan Mountains and climbing Mount Suribachi where the Marines raised the flag during the invasion of Iwo Jima. Another memorable experience was when our bombardier, with the assistance of the pilot who put the plane into a dive, was able to shoot down a Japanese fighter plane. |
