| After being released from Active Duty, I managed the family Retail Furniture Store for more than 40 years. The store was in operation for 102 years through the 4th generation. Business closed in 1999. |

| The early B-29's had multiple problems primarily with engines overheating, oil leaks, etc. As a result, on leaving the States for India, we carried a spare engine in the forward bomb bay. I like to think it was the only 5-engine aircraft in service. I used my spare engine on the way over in Natal, Brazil. |
