He practiced law privately and, for a time, was in the mortgage banking industry as President of Eagle Mortgage Corporation. In 1964 he was President of the New Orleans Mortgage Bankers Association and in 1967 he served as President of the Louisiana Mortgage Bankers Association.
He served the State of Louisiana for approximately twenty years as a senior assistant attorney general on the staff of State Attorney General, William J. Guste, Jr. Upon his retirement, he served as a senior consultant to the law firm of Steeg and O’Connor.
Thoughts on the 58th Bomb Wing:
He invented a survival vest for B-29 bombardment crew that was adopted by the Air Corps for which he was awarded a Bronze Star.
In 1943 he was appointed by the Army to the Dixie Mission to Communist China to evaluate the military and political capabilities of the Communists with the idea of establishing a base on mainland China from which to launch an invasion of Japan. After the diplomatic mission of Gen. Patrick Hurley, the plan was abandoned.
