The Wasp Junior is one of the most successful reciprocating engines ever built. Pratt & Whitney introduced it as a complement to the Wasp and Hornet families of engines in 1930. More than 39,000 of all versions were produced until 1953 and powered more than 60 types of aircraft including:
- Beechcraft Model 18, Staggerwing
- Boeing-Sterman Model 75 (aftermarket conversions)
- de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver
- Grumman G-21 Goose
- Lockheed Model 10A Electra, Model 12A Electra Junior
- North American BT-14
- Sikorsky H-5 helicopter, S-39 Jungle Gym
- Vought OS2U Kingfisher
- Vultee BT-13 Valiant
