P-51D Racer Restoration Diary
Monthly Updates by Restoration Crew Chief, Pete McConnell
Missing cockpit switch panels (right and left) were fabricated to NAA drawing specifications. NEAM member/volunteer Dave Paqua, Franklin Glass & Aluminum, volunteered his time fabricating these panels. The trim quadrant was restored and placed in storage until the fuselage is painted. Our thanks are extended to NEAM member/volunteer L. Scott Frantz, CT. State Senator 36th district, who provided the funds for the quadrant's restoration. Senator Frantz's donation was also used to purchase other missing components for our restoration project.
The cockpit oxygen system has been restored and fitted with appropriate plumbing. The flap control mechanical and hydraulic systems were restored and all associated plumbing installed. In the cockpit area hydraulic plumbing for all landing gear operation was installed.
