The rear fuselage (empennage) was separated from the main fuselage and mounted on its designated work stand. Its internal surfaces were cleaned and preserved as original. The tail wheel assembly was removed, restored and then re-installed. All missing fuselage access panels were fabricated and fitted where required. Tail wheel doors were fitted, primed, and then removed for storage. The rear fuselage was then surface prepared and primed with white epoxy primer. The electrical assembly, housed in the rear compartment (Anson Johnson race design modification), was removed, the area was cleaned and preserved, and the unit rebuilt to original design. the electrical assembly was re-installed.
