For the first time the Museum will hold a Helicopter Day on Saturday, June 23, 2018.
On display will be over 20 helicopters and equipment, including many that have been in storage for several years and are not normally open to the public. Several of the helicopters will be open to the public for tours and there will be experts available to explain the aircraft and their operation. The helicopters include the 25,000 pound Sikorsky CH-54 “Tarhe,” sometimes called the Skycrane, a single seat gyrocopter, a Navy drone, an award winning man-powered helicopter, and many others.
In addition, at 1:00 p.m. Kevin Bredenbeck, former Sikorsky test pilot, will give a presentation "X2 Technology: Sikorsky Door Step Into The Future."
This event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the Museum and the Wings 'n Things Gift Shop staying open until 5:00 p.m. Sneakers or rubber-soled shoes are recommended. Food will be available for purchase, on a cash only basis.
